Makkah and Madinah are hot and dry. Days often reach 40°C, while nights in Madinah turn cool. Pack light, breathable, and smart. Here is exactly what to bring.
Documents and Money
These are the most important items. Keep them in a secure travel pouch.
- Passport (valid at least six months) and photocopies.
- Hajj or Umrah visa and confirmation papers.
- Flight tickets and hotel vouchers.
- Vaccination certificate, including meningitis (ACYW135), per the Saudi Ministry of Health. Carry proof of any polio or yellow fever doses if required.

Toiletries (Unscented for Ihram)
While in ihram, all scented products are forbidden. Pack fragrance-free items and check every label carefully.
- Unscented soap, shampoo, and body wash.
- Fragrance-free toothpaste and deodorant.
- Unscented moisturiser and lip balm to fight dryness.
- Miswak, comb, and a small mirror.
- Unscented wet wipes, tissues, and a travel toilet roll.
