The Shared Rituals

The Extra Rites of Hajj
This is where Hajj becomes greater in scope. Beyond the shared rituals, Hajj adds several key rites that Umrah does not have.
- Standing at Arafah on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, the heart of Hajj.
- Spending the night at Muzdalifah.
- Staying in Mina across several days.
- Stoning the pillars (Rami) that represent Shaytaan.
- Offering an animal sacrifice (Qurbani) for those on Tamattu' or Qiran.
Umrah involves none of these. It stays within Makkah and the Masjid al-Haram.
